It’s Monday asiye ke!

20160529_145700

It seems like our Sunday World was dry izolo, they ran with rappers Fifi Cooper and Emtee being robbed as their head-line. They wrote Mthembeni Ndevu aka Emtee together with Refilwe Moeketsi aka FiFi Cooper are allegedly warring with their boss regarding their nearly R1 million Metro FM award prize. Kgosi Mahumapelo, Ambitiouz Record owner kept these two artists Metro FM award Statuettes by keeping them in his office and it is also alleged that he took 50% of the artists Metro FM winnings. Emtee was paid R200 000.00 while Fifi took R150 000.00. SW sources say Emtee was ruffed even further when Mahumapelo paid him and Fifi Cooper R50 000.00 for their December bonuses, the source carries on saying Emtee and Fifi were not suppose to be paid the same amount because the boy made a lot more money in gigs than Fifi.

You know what, this should always come as a lesson to everyone that wants to be in the entertainment industry to always read their contracts before signing, because once you sign you can never look back to complain. So bhut’ Emtee before you make too much noise about being robbed by your boss I humbly ask you to spend a little time with your contract first.

  • Congratulations to Kebetswe Motsilanyane aka KB for her new role at SABC2 latest thriller Thola, I hope she slays slays and slays some more.
  • 20160529_145753

SW says Mpho Maboi is allegedly in hot water for throwing shade at her colleague Lerato Kganyago on Social Media after True Love had published unretouched pictures of kganyago that exposed her cellulite. Mpho wrote “ I don’t care for that woman, personally, but still will call out what TL did to her coz that could have been any of us…Not cool”

Two SABC staffers who did not want to be named because they were not allowed to speak to the media confirmed they had informally complained to their bosses about Maboi’s conduct. “they must do to Maboi what they did to Unathi “ said one staffer.

I don’t know if I need balance not to see anything wrong with Mpho’s tweet, like not everyone likes people they work with PERSONALLY but they tolerate them and they don’t get into trouble for that why would Mpho’s tweet be taken any different. And the more I read this tweet the more I see a supportive tone like “ …but will still call out what TL did to her coz that could have been any of us…Not cool”. I see power in that statement. Power to you girl! And most importantly POWER to you Lerato Kganyago for not entertaining any of this crap.

20160529_145938

Over to Sunday Sun, they wrote Robert Marawa freaks out and sends bouncers to grab cameras when he spotted people taking photos of him and Pearl Thusi.

20160529_150319

I did not pay attention on this story because I feel if true, it’s childish and absolutely uncalled for leaning over to being stupid in my eyes. If BIG Rob does not want photos of him with Pearl he must not be cosy with her in public where there is camera or media people because they will be snapped. Such silly tricks for a big old man!

20160529_150314

Confirmed! Zoe Mthiyane and lebo Morake are no longer an item. I was ccd in the email that I would be moving out- and I should return the car and engagement ring… he didn’t pay lobola and used to say he lived in the US and didn’t believe in ilobola and paying things like inhlawulo (damages). ..I was like a trophy wife to him. I started seeing a different side of Lebo M that I was never comfortable with… he changed for a man I once fell in love with when I was in Australia. He’s a great guy and a good lover, but when he flips he’s a different person”

Zoe sisi get your life!

SS says it’s been rumoured khaya Mthethwa’s family is demanding for ilobolo back from Nomzamo Mbatha’s family.

20160529_150602

1st of all I thought Khaya had those tendencies, so in my small mind I’m thinking if he has those other tendencies why would he want to go through this, I know a lot of married folks with tendencies and since they have such they run away from unnecessary drama.

Secondly, my other mind thinks tendencies or not this should be a private FAMILY matter. This is a private matter like Nomzamo says in response to SS “In my culture, such matters are discussed by male elders who are part of ilobolo delegation. I’ve never sat in my ilobolo negotiations and am not at liberty to comment.

  • Tbo Touch together with Lindelani Mkhize of joyous celebrations are said to be in talks in a bid to start a new trade union for workers in the industry… they feel the current union doesn’t do justice when it comes to representation.
  • Khanyi Mbau with Somizi Mhlongo are rumoured to have gone to the sponsors of the SAMA’s to ask them to make Thando Thabethe whom is said tobe the main show presenter to be where Khanyi Mbau is scheduled to be…back stage.

*sigh* Media people and their back stabbing!

What news caught your attention this week-end, let ‘s share.

The New Opel Astra Launch.

$

Last Wednesday my favourite car brand OPEL show cased it’s latest offering of the New Germans rev up New Astra at Tin Factory in Krammeville, Sandton. I will say this is my favourite car brand because I drive and have been driving Opel Corsa Essentia for the past 5 years and I’m loving the treatment 9read I not experienced any unwarranted problems0 and I know in my mind which car I will go for when I change the car next year… New Astra but it must be automatic I’m tired and done with manual cars shem.

Anyways, this is not about me and my admiration for the Opel brand it’s about the winner of the European Car of The Year 2016, The New Astra which was recently introduced in South Africa.

I don’t know if you remember last year we attended the launch of the Opel Adam, the new astra offers more or less similar traits as the Adam.

This is what they say about the car.

Inspired by the low-slung and sleek Monza Concept, the #NewAstra emphasizes the Opel design language of sculptural artistry meets German precision. Features from the Monza can be seen in all four vehicles but being the latest of the bunch the new Astra embodies all of the characteristics of this concept. New Astra is not only lighter and more fuel efficient than its predecessor, it also features class-leading technology, safety features and infotainment to make driving even more exciting, safer and relaxed – This is part of Opel’s ongoing effort to democratise technology.

“The New Astra new Astra is a sleek and dynamic vehicle designed and engineered to meet fast-changing consumer needs and demands that are shaping personal mobility today. Opel set out to engineer a vehicle that would be efficient in every way, a vehicle that would surprise and delight the driver at every turn and boy have they done it,” says Brian Olson, Vice President Vehicle Sales Service and Marketing GM Sub-Saharan Africa.

This is how Lumko and Khanya rated the New Astra;

  • Producer, Lumko Johnson said, “this car is a perfect accessory for someone like me. Not only is it convenient to drive, but its lines are super stylish. I like that I don’t have to carry a whole CD case with me anymore. I plug in my phone and my whole library is there. It is so hot.”… which is nothing new or innovative.

Amongst the latest technologically and advanced features the #NewAstra boasts the Advanced Park Assist feature which identifies suitable parking spaces and automatically parks the vehicle, without the driver touching the wheel. The system measures parallel or perpendicular parking spots, calculates the vehicle’s trajectory and automatically steers the Astra into a space while the driver just controls acceleration, deceleration and gear shifting.

  • Television Presenter and renowned actress Khanya Mkangisa said, “This car is really impressive. It actually all these fancy features one would expect to see in those luxury cars. I love that I no longer have to worry about parallel parking. It parks itself. YAY! You know us girls hate these things. So I just love that.”

Another great feature that sets Astra apart from the competition is the Opel Eye Safety Camera, which constantly monitors conditions around the vehicles and is linked to a host of safety features that assist the driver. One of these features is the IntelliLux Matrix LED lighting system, which is usually found in much more expensive luxury vehicles.

*pours ginger tea* Tjoe le-flu will show you flames shem. Still on last week’s events: In Celebration of the Lerato Kganyago’s cover True Love Magazine invited us to hang with them, a few celebs and their readers at the newly built Mall Of Africa out in Midrand at Waterfall City to watch Mrs Right Guy.

I must confess I was not keen on the movie my mind was telling me “izaba yi-flop le-movie” but I wanted to go out, be with other mothers kids and mingle nje. That is why I must also state Mrs Right Guy is an amazing romance movie with elements that we can all relate to. It has ama-gay-i, blessers, intsokolo, ubumnandi and everything under the sun. I don’t review movies but I know a good picture when I see one and Mrs Right Guy is that movie:

  • Best Picture.
  • Great actors.
  • Brilliant acting.
  • Impressive storyline.
  • And you know with love hurt comes as well.
  • And and and and you must go see for yourself.

Huawei P9I P9 Plus Launch.

Technology keeps getting better and better each time, I mean every day there’s always an invention of some sort that leads to an “upgrade” of another. Well, this past Wednesday Huawei invited us to the launch of yet another invention a Huawei P9 and P9 Plus hosted by the ultimate funny yellow bones Donovan and Jason Goliath at the Sandton Convention Centre.

I must say everything went well with this launch however I could not stick around for the presentations mainly because of the flu, I was coughing and sneezing so I spent most time outside the auditorium instead. I think this is what Huawei wanted you all to know about their new P9I P9 Plus.

Huawei unveiled the the much anticipated P9, the world’s first co-engineered Leica dual-camera smartphone, to its South African consumers. The P9, created in partnership with Leica Camera AG, not only offers consumers industry-leading imaging innovation but comes in Huawei’s stylish signature design.

The P9 brings together best-in-class technologies. By integrating the design values and engineering excellence of Leica and Huawei, the two have transformed smartphone photography into an experience that enables users to capture the highest-quality pictures.

The P9’s ground-breaking dual-camera, subject to the industry’s most stringent quality screening requirements, specialises in capturing vivid colour and acquiring precision imagery through the camera’s monochrome capabilities.  With the P9 dual-camera, users can become expert photographers and capture images with superior detail and depth. Need superb selfies? Say no more, the P9 has an 8MP front-facing camera that can turn you into a professional and keep you on top of your selfie game.

Furthermore, the P9 comes with the power and performance synonymous with Huawei.  With a stunning 5.2-inch 1080p display, the P9 is powered by the new Kirin 955 2.5GHz 64-bit ARM-based processor for world-leading mobile performance. The 3000mAh high-density battery offers P9 users outstanding mobility and greater battery life. In addition, the P9 boasts an enhanced fingerprint sensor which gives users added security and easy access to unlock your smartphone.

The P9 has a state-of-the-art industrial design. With the same minimalist design DNA as earlier products in Huawei’s acclaimed flagship P-series, the P9 was built to fit your hand. Each device is perfectly constructed from superior-grade glass, diamond-cut edges and an aluminum unibody with curves in all the right places.

South African consumers can look forward to the P9 in three remarkable colours: Haze Gold, Ceraminc White and Titanium Grey. Capturing brilliant images requires space and the P9 is available in two storage sizes, 32GB and 64GB, perfect for your storage needs. The P9 will be available at all local operator networks from today both on contract and prepaid packages from a recommended retail price of R11 999 and from a recommended retail price of R13 499 for the P9 Plus.

And here are some of the lovely people we spotted:

Anatii’s Listening Session.

This past cold Wednesday we made our way to The World Of Yamaha to be part of Anatii’s listening session. The sessions was attended by his family, music pals, friends and ofcourse us.

Anatii’s listening sessions were awesomely hosted by Danny K, he spoke of Anatii in a true form with ease and authenticity. I was really impressed and touched by this. Opening Act was an up-coming artist from Canada (as she introduced herself) Ma Nala, whom I thoroughly enjoyed. She gave us a good rendition of Amy Winehouse * I can’t recall the title of the song at this point* and Adele’s Hometown Glory, before she gave us a taste of her own work. THEN! The main act came.

I will not dab too much about Anatii’s music but say I enjoyed his sound, his charisma more than anything really is what glued me on because I had told myself I will leave soonest but I stayed throughout the spectacle. I don’t know Anatii at all, yes we’ve exchanged a few greets here and there but I still don’t know him. I have never spent time with him as he always strikes me as a shy quiet oak. Needless to say he had this aura about him on stage that commanded respect. I suppose respect is gradual when you adore what you do or doing what you love as some might pen it… or whatever wethu. The point I’m trying to make is to wish Anatii the best of luck in this fickle music industry that does not always recognize raw talent. Let me stop before I sound like a groupie to a 23 year old, his album is called ARTIIFACT, GO get yourself a soft or hard copy!

Now let’s look at some people that came to support Anatii for his big night:

Party: Lyons In Jozi!!!

This was not an event we were invited to as Just Curious but were invited on our personal capacities…well Lelo’s and I was merely her date for the night but no matter where we are (sometimes and mostly at events) I can’t ignore the fact that JC is encompassed in me in many ways so I always have a camera with where-ever I go and this event was no different…

This past Thursday Fox in partnership with Dstv invited us to party with them at Club Harem in Rosebank to rub shoulders with Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard in celebrating the release of Empire Season 3 which will be out in September of this year.

This was a club experience which is nothing to write an article about as it was full of people of the south that wanted to see oo-Taraji in their home ground but, what I will mention is the disrespect I felt after waiting in that cold for almost two hours waiting for the “stars” to arrive and when they finally arrived they did not want to pose for us on the black carpet, we had to leqa them… yes I know that’s how it’s done kibo but this is not America someone should have informed them about our protocol!

As if that was not enough we *camera people/ photographers * were instructed by their personal bouncers not to take photos of the couple while lounging in the club, this was after one bouncer promised to confiscate my camera should I take another photo of the couple. *sigh* I then immediately lost interest, I didn’t stick around long to have a story or stories to pick up.  I had a glass of lemonade and left as Donald was doing his thing on stage as opening act.

Now let’s see who decided to brave the cold to party with the Lyons this Thursday:

Miss World Africa Miss South Africa 2015 LieslI was tempted to ask Liesl Laurie (Miss World Africa 2016) about her relations with Proverb then I thought asking her about her new Mercedes Benz would be appropriate… I feel sorry for them ‘ey they clearly love each other, they also arrived/came together but had to take turns in posing as they don’t want to pose together as an item that they are… And by the way is Pro’s divorce settled?

I know I’m cry baby like I cry out hardships to myself and with loved ones sometimes but this morning when I tuned to Metro-FM I was looking for different sound other than my playlist because I couldn’t find the Joyous Celebration CD I was looking for. My listening bites wanted to listen to Jesu Ke Mmoloki waka and couldn’t find it and I didn’t feel like listening to anything else from my collection then opted for Metro. On Metro FM they were talking to Mr Seth Mazibuko (A student leader from the class of ’76 one of the leaders who fought for is a challenge for today’s youth.) talking about ways in which we, the youth and people of today commemorate June 16.

I’m an 80’s baby and one of those that never really experienced and seldom seen or be involved in violent protests, I think after today I’m even ashamed to say I couldn’t care about June 16 and ignorantly I didn’t really know the commemoration in-depth. Not that I ever used the holiday to party or to put on a school uniform but I just enjoyed being at home and doing nothing on this public holiday.

When Unathi was going through her questioning and understating of the whole June 16 I felt something on her tone that made me teary that made me feel I was less of a 33 year old that I am, I guess it’s lack of information and education on my part. Speaking of Education, June 16 was never part of the curriculum of my schooling days, we were learning about abo-Jan Van Riebeeck not abo Hector Pieterson, Chris Hani’s and Mandelas.

I must say even though I didn’t know of Seth Mazibuko (never heard him until today) I feel we need more leaders like him around us, people to look up to, to inspire and aspire to. Leaders that are not ashamed to take blame, elders say what’s wrong irrespective of the circumstances, accountable individuals… they type we need to lead this country to better.

Thank you Unathi for your passion and trauma that you might have experienced in yester years and for the way you conducted the interview. Thank You Metro FM for the platform. Thank you heroes of the past like Seth Mazibuko and the ones that never lived to tell their tales. Thanks to their families for them.

How Do you Celebrate June 16, are have you experienced and of the apartheid struggles in your life and how do you feel about the way the youth of ’76 is commemorated?

hectorpieterson1964june161976

When I googled June 76 I got this:

Youth Day in South Africa commemorates the Soweto Uprising in the country. The day is celebrated on June 16 every year. The day is celebrated in order to recognize the role of youth in the liberation of South Africa from the Apartheid regime.

The grounds of the movement lay in a 1974 official order which made Afrikaans compulsory in schools. The order stated that Afrikaans be used in conjunction with English for teaching in schools. Certain subjects like social studies, mathematics and algebra were required to be taught in Afrikaans while others like home science and general science were required to be taught in English. The use of local languages was prohibited was these subjects citing a provision in constitution which laid down Afrikaans and English as the official languages of the country.

Afrikaans was largely seen by people as the “language of the oppressor” and it resulted in growing resentment in teachers as well as students. It was on April 30, 1976 when the resentment crossed all thresholds and the students of Orlando West Junior High School refused to go to school. On the morning of June 16, 1976, thousands of black students went on a protest rally from their schools to Orlando Stadium.

Although the rally was intended to be a peace protest, things soon got out of control and riots were seen all over the place. Hundreds of students were killed during the protest. Although this youth revolution did not see the taking back of the language order immediately, it did see a turning point in South Africa’s liberation campaign which ultimately saw the downfall of the apartheid government there.

The Youth Day in South Africa is celebrated in memory of all the youngsters who lost their lives during the protest, especially the death of Hector Pieterson, a 12 year old student who was killed during the uprising. The day is celebrated with musical concerts around the country in order to celebrate the energy of youth. The day also sees various educational discussions being organized by school and college students around the country. Various youth oriented non- profit organizations also organize awareness campaigns on this day to make the youth of the country aware of the challenges in the current environment of the country. It was the Soweto Uprising which laid the grounds for the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of the Apartheid regime in the country.

Is The Mighty ANC In The Dog?

$

0

I have been trying to avoid this but after watching last night’s news bulletin I couldn’t. Just in case you’ve missed it or you were watching SABC News, eNCA showed images of the rioting protestors in the City Of Tshwane (aka Pretoria) alleged they were protesting against the ruling party’s mayoral candidate Thoko Didiza.

Abahali base Pitoli are saying they don’t know who this candidate is and they are willing to vote for i-DA if their ANC is not willing to take them serious as they have given them ample time to clean up their act.

Thabo Mbeki

I don’t know if this is not a warning enough for the ruling party to actually take time and listen NO scratch that ACT on what the masses demand, because it’s the very masses that put their X on that voting ballots that put them in power.

This reminded me of yesterday’s Sowetan head line “ ANC faces humiliating death” from “The Thabo Mbeki I know” book which I can’t wait to get my dirty hands on…”negative culture will become so systemic that the ANC… will die an ignominious death” the Thabo Mbeki book is scheduled to be released this coming Friday.

I’m sitting here leaning on not voting on the next coming elections as I don’t see my voting going to any other political party *sigh* time will tell I might change my mind for either.

Your thoughts?

Atandwa Kani Opens Up About His Life.

Masirhabuleni!

This statement serves to give an honest, detailed account of the events that transpired between myself and Ms. Thembisa Mdoda. Ms. Mdoda and I met in 2004 at Wits University. We had an on and off relationship throughout our student years. We both, consequently, moved on and were involved with other people.

atandwa

Tshisa Atandwa!

In 2011 we met up again on a casual basis. Soon after, she told me that she was pregnant. My immediate response was to request a paternity test once the children were born, because she was intimately involved with another man at that particular time. This request was met with hostility. I decided, assuming I was the father, to do the appropriate, befitting and right thing, which was to be a supportive and active partner throughout her pregnancy. I would introduce the ‘paternity’ topic every now and then, but would be met with a continuously growing unwillingness and animosity, even to the point of being threatened I would never see the children if I decided to press on with the issue.

Eish this part Mara makes me  wanna scratch my head, like why do people have to wait this long to get things right or wrong in their lives… I think that explains why I’m still single becasue I give you all the imperative facts zibekwa nje you decided and the rest we learn as we grow together… Should we not agree or have unwillingness signs its either we will end off or be benefiting friends. However, people lie, they lie everyday and would lie all the time to protect themselves… from what? Andazi

AtandwaThembisa

The children were born in 2012 and Ms. Mdoda and I split the parenting responsibilities and continued our relationship., However, in 2014 rumours surfaced that she had been unfaithful. Once the media caught wind of this story, I decided, in order to protect the children and my family name, to deny the allegations and we threatened to sue the publication. In 2015, when the relationship with said man persisted and more rumours sprung that she had aborted this man’s baby, I decided to leave the relationship. During that confrontation, she slapped me across the face countless times and swore I would never see the children again. Soon after this incident, she told the papers that she had been in an abusive relationship, claiming to have been ‘black, blue and battered’, expressing to her family that I had deserted her and the children.

People must refrain from smearing each other, if things don’t work out be like Gywneth Paltrow and Chris Martin claim “concious upcoupling” and leave it at that.

Atandwa

She kept me from seeing the children for many months, which prompted my family and I to seek legal assistance from a family lawyer. After months of deliberation and a seemingly unending stalemate, in November 2015, she eventually agreed to take the paternity test. I collected the blood test results from Lancet Laboratories four weeks later in December 2015 and the results revealed conclusively that: “Probability of Paternity: 0.000%” – Lancet Laboratories, 2015 With them further explaining: “The results of DNA profiling analysis of the three persons identified above indicate that ATANDWA KANI is EXCLUDED from being the biological father of (the) child:…” – Lancet Laboratories, 2015 Once this became public knowledge, she denied it and said that the results of the paternity test were inconclusive. This is untrue. As of yet, the only disputes made by her have been to the media, and not to Lancet Laboratories. I felt it necessary to clarify this information, as I wish to squash all public speculation and move on with my new life, leaving this chapter behind.

I think these news come at rather a good time that Thembisa Mdoda is on leave/holiday, do you think she took leave knowing this was going to happen *scratches head*… Either way life does indeed go on.

I feel sorry for the kids and their families at this point.

Our friends at Capacity Relations ensured we were part of the A-m-a-z-i-n-g Castle Lite Unlocks JCole out at the Ticket Pro Dome this past Saturday… well this is not the first time they invite us to such. Anyways, Pat and I drove to the Capacity Relations offices out in Kelvin where we (myself and other media folks) were transported to the Dome via a shuttle. We got to the Dome had a bit of drama with our tags but was quickly resolved and we were ushered to our suite. I think by the time we arrived we had missed performances from but managed to catch ….

My highlight for the night was the young Nasty C (which I stated my admirations of him on the Vodacom NXT LEVL read here) but he was coming second to Kwesta. Kwesta decided to give us his set unplugged and I more than enjoyed it I loved it one thing he missed on though is backing vocalists and lastly my all the time everyday man crush Reason didn’t do too bad either.

And usongaye in this case JCole came and shut it down as anticipated!

JCole

This is the closest we could get of JCole.

Last Friday King David Tlale together with On Pont PR invited us to a Pop-up store to spend some bucks on David’s clothing line at the Johannesburg CBD. I’m one of those people that thought Davids pieces are exorbitantly priced but I was wrong, his prices were/are reasonable a baggy shirt was selling for R350.00 which was quite reasonable and sadly was the only item of clothing that I could envision wearing.

Without wasting time lets see the attendees:

Interview With Andile “AJ” Jwara.

$

Rapper Andile “AJ” Jwara has survived life on the streets of Durban fending for himself to clinching a record deal with new baby on the block, Boss Entertainment. The young rapper who classifies his music as Trap sound, said he never gave up hope that one day he will live a normal life away from the streets. At just 19-years-of-age, he has overcome so many challenges that he feels like nothing that is yet to come can beat sleeping on the streets and having to constantly worry about his safety and where his next meal will come from.

He chats to us about his music, background and his favourite things.

1.What inspired you to finally make the decision to pursue your music career?

The good comments and positive response when I was singing in the streets of Durban, really gave hope that one day I’m going to be in the music industry. I thank God for getting me this far.

2.You look cute, do you handle situations where women throw themselves at you?

I don’t wake up and look at myself in the mirror and say I’m cute (it’s funny). I’m currently single and satisfied just focusing on my music career and so far I haven’t had any extreme cases of women throwing themselves at me. I appreciate the love I get from ladies but for now I’m focusing on my career and ensuring that my music gets national attention.

3. How was it growing up in Umlazi and how does the place inspire you to make a success of your life?

It put too much pressure on me to become creative, as in my hood we were all into kasi rap. But those initial stages made me realise my creative way of singing and rapping, contributing to me finding my voice.

4. Which musicians have had an influence on your sound and why?

Chris Brown is a big an inspiration to me because he is a versatile artist. He is always evolving and I want to be just like him and be relevant a decade from now. Meditation also helps me with clarity and focus when I’m in the songwriting process.

5. Working in the music industry is not all fun and games, what are some of the things that you didn’t expect when you came into the industry?

Competition can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. For me, it puts me in the state of always cooking music all day of my life, so that I can always have something fresh to release.

6. You have a ‘clean look’ for a hip hop artist, is it your plan to be that rapper who wears suits on stage and why?

Image needs to be different in order to maintain my brand in this highly competitive industry.

7. Who is your celebrity crush and why?

Boity Thulo because she’s HOT!

8. What is your favourite meal and why?

Ujeqe no mfino (steamed bread and spinach), because it reminds me of the taste of my late mothers who used to enjoy cooking for everyone at home. She was a superwoman because she made ends meets even with less.
