Sunday Shows…

Oh guys I’m sorry for the lack of an update, busy week-end and I had not given myself time to go through my mails and tv shows… Just flew back from Port Elizabeth, saw my Mom *happy face*. Let’s call this an extended Anything Goes for Sunday Shows.

I love you bo-Love

Tsogo Sun, Gold Reef Experience.

$

0

Last year around November Tsogo Sun invited us (well Lelo) for “It’s Time For The Big Unveiling”of the multi-million rand refurbishment of Gold Reef City. It was a night of glitz and glamour, since I have no life partner I had gone with a friend.

20160130_165522

By attending the event I received vouchers to utilise at Gold Reef City which included, a two day stay, entrance to Theme park rides, R100 coupon food vouchers, Site Seeing and many more… The voucher also stipulated that it is for two adults with 2 children, since I have no children and I could not bring two adults with me for the stay I opted to give away the other tickets.

20160130_113140We checked in Friday evening a the Theme Park hotel. I don’t know if it was me but the guards were rather unprofessional at the gate. Rules are, you park your car outside the Hotel gates (at a designated visitors parking) wait to be chauffeured to the hotel for check-in. To us that didn’t happen, we actually had to walk to the hotel gates for assistance.

20160130_111616

The lady at the gate tried to assistance by calling on some drivers to come pick us up at the gate but the drivers were not co-operating… we were even willing to walk in rather than being driven, eventually a shuttle came, the driver explained they’re short-stuffed infact he was alternating with some other guy… we understood.

20160130_101054

We were then driven to the reception, checked-in went to our room freshened-up and went out for supper at Barney’s… what a horrible experience it was, I mean the food. The menu was dull as in nothing appetising was being offered, I initially wanted sea-food (they didn’t have), then pasta (they didn’t have)… I seldom (to never) go for red meat (at eat-out places…)

IMG-20160129-WA0016

I could only get trotters which I couldn’t finish… there were cats all around us. I just couldn’t understand the cats, I’m a lover of pets but I believe not in a public eat-out place… or ndithetha ezomqala?

20160130_100912

Those that know and follow me on social media would know that I have taken a liking on food. I don’t necessarily love food but when I eat out at restaurants I would want to eat GOOD food… flavours are of paramount to me.

Anyways after dinner we asked to be taken to the casino, to gamble our few pennies, LOL. I must say my date enjoyed the gambling, we hopped from one machine to the next.  We would win on some and on some lose, in the end we lost the R200.00 :( we came with.

20160130_165245

By the time we were done gambling it was after mid-night and our bodies were calling for umbede. We went to the Casino reception where we asked for a shuttle, it  was called to come take us to the hotel and it did.

20160130_103332

A before and after of my breakfast.

20160130_104130

Saturday morning, we again to Barney’s for breakfast…

20160130_100925I think we were expecting a better menu and that Barney’s was the most convenient eat out place for us.

20160130_104348

We were disappointed again, their food was atrocious cutlery was dirty, even their basic egg tasted horrible, I couldn’t finish my food

After our horrible breakfast we went for ama-rides which were fun;

20160130_114502

20160130_114718

queuing up for rides, the boat ride was fun.

We went to the farms;

20160130_113704 20160130_113827 20160130_113748 20160130_113731 20160130_113723 20160130_113650 20160130_113636 20160130_113544

I enjoyed reading these, educational stuff cool for kids.

20160130_113911 20160130_113902

We carted.

20160130_112429

My date was really scared of the horse.

20160130_112346

We went to a 4D theatre and I can tell you now that’s not for me, I mean you somehow get to experience some of the things the main characters (on tv) that are going through. like if the main character gets splashed on with water, you in your seat will get a splash of water on your face as well. If the main character falls off or rides a horse your chair will also emulate the movement… That is just awesome for kids shem, Lolo and other bloggers with kids here’s my recommendation.

20160130_121854

We went for tenpin bowling…that was fun, I was happy to learn bowling with my date.20160130_132955We ended our day at the movies and we were nothing but exhausted.

20160130_135740

For God lovers, there’s a Chapel for you.

20160130_113237

My date and I had a ball of fun! regardless of the eats.

20160130_105229 20160130_101448

Nokuthula Nunge and Zolani Masombuka.

20160130_092548Beautiful spacious rooms.

Thank you Tsogo Sun, Gold Reef City for the experience.

Rest In Peace Koyo Bala.

I am completely shattered, I really don’t know what to say about Koyo Bala’s passing. Literally a week ago we were together having fun catching up. He was telling me about his life and where he is and how well he was doing. It was evident to me that Cape Town did Koyo a lot of good (I know some blogger asked what I meant that Koyo looked good… He looked good from the last time I was him which was 2 years ago).

Koyo is one of the brave soldiers we had, he came out about his sexuality from his singing days and later made headlines about coming out about his HIV positive status… subsequently diagnosed with Cancer.

20160226_234419
Our Last photo of him at the Metro FM Music Awards.

One of the things we spoke about from our trip to the airport for the MetroFM Awards  with Amstel was how grateful he is of the support he has received from friends and mainly his family… Koyo was not much of a pretender, he would tell you what he thinks without fighting, I loved and enjoyed his energy. Whenever I would be out at a gig and he would be there I would be with him as we’re both teetotalers.

One would think after so many deaths in my family that I would be kinda used to such… All I can say is kufa wena awuneli!

Metro FM Awards Round-Up

Last night I was going through the photos on my camera then I came across these Metro FM Awards images I didn’t use, so I thought why not use them to talk one last time about the ceremony.

20160227_221455

This year’s Awards were passible and I can bet most of you have forgotten about them already just because they lacked that WOW factor.

20160227_220534

  • Things nje were flawed ngalama Awards from Media Accreditation (people had to call in to find out if their on the guest-list or not and some BIG publications had to ask their Editor’s to call Kaizer Kganyago because they were not on the list)
  • The horrible pre-party experience.
  • The mess that was on the accreditation table at the ICC basement.
  • And empty seats… were the tickets expensive? Because it was nicely packed outside but ngaphakathi, dololo.
  • 20160227_220541
  • However the hosts were awesome, Mo-flava le Bonang would not have been on the top of my list as hosts but they did an incredible job together.
  • The Black carpet was good, people came dressed in nines.
  • And some people say the after party at the ICC was Da Boss Dot Com (I didn’t attend the after party)

Anywho let’s take a look at these photos:

Congratulations to the winners!!!

20160227_200227

I enjoyed the opening, Back to the beach is one of those songs I deemed not to be from a South African artist. The sound is international. Thank you, Shekinnah and Kyle.

20160227_203434 20160227_203157 20160227_203016

And then there were those gospel performances! I was wowed shem.

20160227_214708

Congratulations to Mtee but the kid better stop taking what he took at the Awards… or maybe it was the nerves getting the best of him.

20160227_212131 20160227_212050

I’m one of those people who didn’t recognise Pearl Thusi, she didn’t only look awful with that wig she acted rather uncomfortably weird too.

20160227_212738

Another big CONGRA! To bhut’ Arthur Mafokate for receiving the life-time achievement Award.

20160227_212558

I wish I knew what is going on at the 999 stable because word on the street is Arthur ain’t spending time with Chomie no more and she is kind-a feeling lonely. Lol

20160227_212446 20160227_212501This girl neh ekuthiwa nguKelly Khumalo knows how to work it.

20160227_205839

Congratulations to Durban NYT’s for scooping the award, B-U-T they should know they have a female as a member of the group.

20160227_211421

I know we love America things, we even go to extremes of emulating everything they do but drugs and other bad things are not to be copied people!

Screenshot_2016-03-02-06-23-05

The day after the awards I received this text from a very good friend of mines that I left at the after-party.

Screenshot_2016-03-02-06-23-42

I guess my friend wanted to write ecstasy…

20160227_221028

Naked this pose is suspect maar I’m not saying anything. I wonder what happened to his friendship with Nkululeko “Leko” Madlala, they were sooooo close ingathi baleqwa ngumgqomo and suddenly extremely distant with one another.

20160227_221159

I loved Bong’s speech he actually mentioned and thanked his fans for standing by him even when he was ill.

20160227_215905Bonnie Mbuli was there with her mlungu boyfriend, they looked good together, here with Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Mduduzi Manana.

20160227_215116Yazi I never get Glen Lewis.

20160227_222104

The way I would cringe if I had a boss like ntathe Hlaudi… he looks like he could be those strict yet flexible blessers.

20160227_213212

Umuhle u-girl, Cici you look like a younger version of our boss lady u-Lelo. Congratulations to you too girl.

20160227_213126 20160227_212853This quard was boring to me on stage like really boring.

20160227_211011Unsta!

20160227_210927

I love green, i’m inlove with green!

20160227_202618

I loved these two as well, u-Mbalula makayekwe shem. Thando looking stunning in this Quiteria & George dress.

20160227_202812Congratulations to Fifi Cooper and that mess on her head.

20160227_201326

Who didn’t enjoy Som-G’s remix version kaNomvula… I’m team neither, if friendship is done, IT’S DONE! Somizi must leave Bonang alone with umuntu wakhe, she chose AKA so makaphume apho yena.

20160227_200957Lorna Maseko looking gorge in this Quiteria & George vezithanga gown.

20160227_202327Young, beautiful but boring as hosts… Kay with Namhla.

IMG-20160229-WA0005Beauty!

20160227_222357look at how excited Vusi Nova is over Nathi’s win, you would swear ingathi iwinwe ngumntu wakhe… check that bend. ncoah :) akakwazi ukuzibamba shem, imincili.

20160227_210334This is the very first time I see Minnie with well installed hair.

20160227_211244Another beauty.

20160227_205036No words lana.

20160227_204924Cassper Nyovest.

20160227_204746Other beautiful souls with boring personalities.

20160227_200412who can forget Zahara with Robbie’s performance.

20160227_210552 20160227_203906More wins.

This Past week-end Capacity Relations invited us to be part of the Redds Street Carnival Port Elizabeth. It being my 1st time having to attend a Redds Street Carnival and that PE is my hometown I jumped at the chance… anything to put my City on the map. The Street Carnival took place at Kings Beach/Summerstrand with performances from Ifani, Twins on Decks, Blyze, PE’s Finest  [what a cheesy name] Ricky Rick , Shimza and Many more incredible acts.

The carnival started with a street parade, the singing dancing everyone being jolly and having fun while embracing their individuality, P.E was lit and well represented.

Sunday Shows

This past week while on my break I stumbled across news of a friend’s passing via face-book, instead of probing the husband about funeral arrangements I whatsapp text the kid brother. Well I wanted nothing but the funeral arrangements and he gave me just that. Many would think with my history of losing almost every sibling accepting and dealing with death would be quite easy to do. Well, it’s not, I’m not used to death and I doubt I will ever be. You see this friend (like most of my friends) was more than that she was a sister to me, I met her back at Tech days when I found myself room-less during school holidays … (I couldn’t afford going home every school holiday.) she and her boyfriend turned husband had ways to make such problems vanish, I’m grateful beyond. May your soul find eternal peace my sister.

As if that was not enough, I also had to deal with family, I had to come to terms with assuming my role as the head of the family *deep sigh*…  anyways After my 12 hour drive back to Jozi last night I came home to a dead TV *sad face* I did not attempt to fix it as it was dead so I hopped in the shower then bed to wake up feeling heavy and at that moment I decided to let go of things and people that are not serving me good anymore, and that felt weirdly good.

I dedicate today’s Sunday Shows post to accepting things we can’t change and to let go of unnecessary frills. Khalil Gilbram says “ We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them”

With that being said let’s see what you can tune into this evening…

large_join-us-for-the-voice-sa-recordings-20151117

The Voice is still on…

Lol

Kellogg’s Breakfast For Better Days Challenge.

$

You may all be familiar with the saying ‘charity begins at home’ well before I went on a break I took part in the Kellogg’s Breakfast For Better Days Challenge where myself  along with fellow  bloggers and journalists were required to experience life as a hungry learner by skipping/missing breakfast for a week. This challenge didn’t really have any impact on me as I’m one of those people that love to starve themselves… I can go for hours without eating and contrary to the belief breakfast to me is not the best meal of the day. However I understood the drive behind the challenge, Kellogg’s wanted us to experience how it feels like not having breakfast [by circumstances] especially if you’re juvenile.

The breakfast challenge came to an end at Duduza Primary School in the East Rand which is one of the schools across this beautiful country of ours benefiting from Kellogg’s Breakfast for Better Days… unfortunately we couldn’t make it for this day.

IMG_4390

Info about the Kellogg’s Breakfast for better days; since it began in 2014, the Kellogg’s initiative has served more than 13 million breakfasts to learners every school day at 43 schools across Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, the Eastern and Western Cape provinces.

“Our Kellogg’s Breakfast Challenge allows a window into the harsh reality of what children who go without breakfast go through every day.  Without starting the day with a balanced breakfast, children are fatigued, listless and often struggle to concentrate, which can impact on their performance in lessons. A hungry child cannot perform properly, whether in the classroom or on the sports field, and we believe that by creating a solution for this very prevalent and serious issue we can help more children in South Africa reach their potential.” said Vuyokazi Xapa, Corporate Communications Manager for Kellogg’s.

The Duduza Primary School tour began with the challengers and the children sitting down together for a Kellogg’s breakfast.  As the morning progressed, the guests toured the school, shared their experiences of their individual challenge and met several of the children who have been helped by the project. The Duduza Primary School children also got the chance to take part in a quick soccer practice with the challengers.  The footage taken from the day will be available at the Kellogg’s Breakfasts for Better Days™ website in the upcoming weeks, where viewers can see the whole day’s events through the eyes of the challengers.

IMG_4346

Kellogg’s Breakfast For Better Days objective is to boost learners attendance, positive behaviours and overall happiness in class… such acts are indeed commendable.

Thank you GGI communications for allowing us to be part of this experience.

This Monday we attended the Official opening party aka Pre-party of SA Fashion Week presented to us by Cruz Vodka held at Michelangelo Towers, Sandton. I must say our girls and sometimes boys are really getting this dressing up to the nines thing right, Keep It Up! You know with Cruz Vodka as sponsor only good times are guaranteed through-out the night.

They had Deejay Shimza, the beautiful and talented Bucie, My faves KOTWE Deejay Sphectacular le Naves and a Live act by Tabia and the Afro Breeze for entertainment…My only gripe was with Cruz Vodka TV people hogging the red carpet…well, they were conducting interviews and we had little to no space to get proper images as the lightning was on our favour other than that all was GOODO!

Designer collaborations were as follows:
1. Jessica Nkosi & Sinazo Yolwa: Rubicon
2. Khanya Mkangisa: House of Saint Luke
3. Dream Team SA: House of Saint Luke
4. Amanda du Pont: Anel Botha
5. Thando Thabethe & Refilwe Modiselle: Sober Fashion
6. Dineo Moeketsi & Khanyi Mbau: Keys Fashion
7. Michaella Russel, Mbali Nkosi: JJ Schoeman

13. Bridget Masinga: Judith A

Now that, that’s out of the way let’s see whom we spotted on the red carpet:

Tumi Voster

Starting off with Tumi Voster, she seemed to have moved nicely from her friendship Fundi, Fezo and Melody… I’m more curious to find out what trigged the split from what seemed like a tight friendship. I love the shoes, hair [I’m a sucker for braids] and the accessories I’m just not sure about i-two piece lena.

Mbali Nkosi

Mbali Nkosi looking hot. I heart everything, the new hair, the dress ohhhhh the shoes.

Refilwe Modisele

My girl Refilwe Modiselle looking elegant in this Sober Fashion piece.

Ayanda Thabethe

K Naomi

more than elegant is KNaomi. I wonder wenzani ngoku, I know she was busy trying to complete her degree last year.

Bontle Modiselle

Refilwe Modiselle’s baby sister Bontle. She acts, dances and presents. Such a beautiful girl.

Aaron

Aaron serving dark chocolate on a platter.

Buhle Samuels

This Buhle Samuels chick is really noticeable, she can give a lot of known IT girls a run with that body.

Blu Mbombo

I will reserve my comment… on 2nd thought ha.a maarn this is ugly, everything looks ugly from Bonang look-a-like dress that make-up and those contact lenses need to take on Nike tekkies and RUN. Blue if you’re out there, you’re such a beautiful girl listen to Zeebs, less is the new isht now baba vah.

Tshepi Vundla

Tshepi Vundla looking simple.

Nomuzi Mabena

Eish u-Nomuzi could have just rocked sweat pants she would still look the same to me.

Amanda Dupond

Amanda du-pond looking like a princess.

Natasha

When you speak of a beautiful girl in an ugly dress you speak of Natasha Thahane.

Lesley Musina

Nomzamo Mbatha

Now this is formation on steroids.

Nomzamo

Another look.

About two weeks ago Joop Home announced it’s 3rd new South African Ambassador. The announcement was held at The Venue Green Park Sandton hosted by the ever beautiful Pearl Modiadie. Unlike the other times whereby Joop had two people for the public to choose this take they had 5 eligible gentlemen, from soccer players to soapie stars to presenters as finalists.

The Voice SA Live Show Experience.

$

This past Sunday we attended the first ever The Voice SA live show down in Balfour Park, for most that read our Sunday Shows feature would know how I feel about the show despite my not so good opinion about the show I went. The venue is quite confined, even their audience chairs are tiny and uncomfortable but I don’t know how it all looks watching from home.

02

Coaches: Karen Zoid, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Lira, and Kahn Morbee Parlotones frontman Kahn Morbee.

The judges/coaches (as they like to be called) gave nothing but positive feedback to their talent… I found this unnecessary I mean if a contestant sucks just say it! Infact if the format of the show is not to criticize then what are the contestants and viewers at home are going to learn? criticize and motivate at the same time. That’s not hard, if you ask me. Oh and another thing I feel if abo Karen Zoid struggle to construct and utter an appropriate sentence in English they must be allowed to speak Afrikaans I mean 2016 is almost over and we are in SA (after all) where we have 11 official languages, mabapraate wethu maybe the show’s ratings will soar… the same applies to abo Lira mabakhulume if deemed.

Now to the talent:

03

El Clay, opened the show with Meghan Trainor’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You”, he was all sorts of nervous but I liked his tone of voice.

20160417_171357

Clement “Clemour” Ngobeni (24) gave an epic interpretation of Joan Osbourne’s “One Of Us”. I enjoyed his interpretation, his confidence and yonke into nje was spot on… he is actually my favourite of them all but andikho sure nge-age yakhe shem.

20160417_171921Eden Myrrh from Cape Town sang Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know”. I don’t know the song but girl was horrible, from her tone to the dress code she was horrible.

20160417_172441

I cant recall what this young lad sang but he managed to get a green light to the finale over Clement *sigh* his name is Richard Stirton van die kaap.

20160417_175545

Gavin Edwards also got the green light to the finale.

20160417_173534 20160417_173526

Nolene Olivier selected the Lady Antebellum Country anthem “Just A Kiss.”.. she was flat she screamed through out the beautiful song… she looks like the Melissa from idols kancinci.

20160417_174004Xanilee Hammond sang Brandi Carlile’s “The Story”.LOL woeheeee the only thing I can remember is Lira’ lying saying she was blown away by her shoes. I literally went on a brain freeze. someone please help my asseblief… please balance these shoes for me, are they WOW or NAY?

20160417_174400Lana Crowster messed up a beautiful song, she chose to sing Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)”… I felt she thought she was on Shell Road To Fame!

20160417_181211Then there was Thembeka Mnguni from Durban! she also got the green light. she sang Beyonce’s halo. I’m prone to believing she can sing but over-singing a song is no sign of being a good singer. sister’s over sang that song, she even had the Whitney jaw shaking singing style. Doesn’t she look like Winnie Khumalo?

When I saw Nadine Sisam I thought she was going to sing a powerful ballad from Celine or Mariah but she sang David Guetta and Sia hit “Titanium” my friend said she should have worn a skirt or something funky… I was not impressed.

Jonathan Grayson is one of the tones I enjoyed, he  selected Dylan’s classic, “Make You Feel My Love” and he sang it very well. Sadly he didn’t get the green light, I urge fellow South Africans to vote him in, please!

My entertainment of the night was goes to *drum roll* Robin Pieters who chose to sing Queen’s, “Bohemian Rhapsody”. I think some gays can do this singing thing only if they could stick to one singing tone. Lol

I did not understand Zoe’s performances maybe it’s because she was emulating Zolani Mahola mixed with Lira and to top it up I don’t like the song and the original singer’s nasal singing style. *pukes*

To seal off my top 3 favourite is Meyrand Roux who took on the Rodriguez classic “Sugarman”. I enjoyed the authenticity in his husky voice, he wasn’t trying hard he was effortlessly killing.

20160417_184428Busisiwe Mutlaka attempted Kelly Clarkson’s “Because Of You”… not my favourite, but she tried.

04

One guy that got a standing ovation from all 4 coaches but didn’t get the green light, you know why because he completely sucked! his name is Marcel De Almeida, he chose to sing Elvis’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You”… and to make matters worse his photo came out bad :(

20160417_171115Show hosted by Lungile “Lungsta” Radu.

I must say the show was a complete opposite than what I allowed myself to see on the telly, chances are I will be watching to see if my favourites made it the next round. SA vote for talent!

Thank you to Mnet PR for the invite.
