I feel Bummed writing this I blame SA voters and moons for allowing Valentine to go over Nosihe, I take my imaginary hat off for you shem kodwa ke asikho lapho.

The Top 9 opened the show with Kirk Franklin Lean On Me, before I label the performance powerful I honestly felt something was offish with the opening just after the boys did their shared opening verse lines I would like to think the girls were supposed to jump in immediately on stage but they didn’t HOWEVER, the singing carried on until they walked in.  Is Idols now prerecorded?  if that’s the case I will not waste my petrol every Sunday to drive to the State Theatre I can watch the prerecorded singing nicely at the comfort of my home. Thank you very much. Don’t get me wrong I’m not against prerecorded performances/shows Beyonce does it all the damn time but people must stipulate such acts some of us appreciate art in all its authentic forms. Nxah!

Now that I’ve aired my views,  let’s talk about the contestants performances starting off with Thami whom in my eyes received the highest number of votes based on him killing last weeks performance. This week he chose to sing Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed Delivered. Let’s start with how dapper he looked in that suit. Damn boy!  And the same goes for his performance.

Homie shocks abahlali again by being the second person to be called in the Top 8 and he shocked me by choosing to sing Mariah Carey’s version of I’ll Be There. I was like WTF! This lad is brave and you know what he did his best and his best received a thumbs up for being passable from me.  It was not great if it were to be compared to Thami’s rendition but it was good enough. Well done Bev!

Well,  shocking should have been the theme for the evening, like I could never have pegged Keegan for Ringo Madlingozi’s Nguwe. As flat as I think he was but he tried his best because Bhut’ Ringo ain’t no child’s play baba.

Lucia chose to sing Lesego’s Afrika. Can we say in her element! I had been begging for Lucia to sing a song she can interpret perfectly with that incredible voice of hers and she did that. Perfection from voice to attire. Thank you Sthandwa!

Terra chose to sing one artist I never understood. Like I never understood how a black man became completely white with the faintest of voice. LMAO. U-Terra makancanywe bafethu he is beyond perfect even though I feel he somehow lacks the Idol look but brothers is nothing less of perfect. He sang Michael Jackson’s Will You Be There.

Noma sang Without You by Mariah, she did her best and her best was relatable I loved it.

As much as I love you Tebza wabantwana I don’t think I loved your rendition of R Kelly’s Worlds Greatest. That song requires not just good voices but powerful and strong vocals as well but you redeemed yourself from the bridge to the end.

I missed Nosihe’s perfomance but Akhona said she was good singing Thandiswa Mazwai’s Ingoma.
And that was it for songs with a meaning!
