Short Cuts: Lamb Bones with Dumplings.
Last Sunday was cold and I could not see myself getting off bed let alone standing e-kitchini for hours so I opted for short cuts.
Njenge njwayelo Once I figured out what I was going to make for lunch ndikhuphe inyama from the freezer to defrost and I went back to bed.
Later I got up peeled my veggies, potatoes, diced up fresh ginger, garlic, onions, green and yellow pepper . Thereafter boiled my potatoes and bones on separate pots. The main reason I boil is I wanted the food to be well done in the minimum of time.
I left everything to boil and went to buy dough at Spar, *covers face* I can’t make dough to save my life…lessons are required shem bahlali, I know you need to have yeast, sugar, salt flour and sometimes butter depending on how you want it but mixing them together is a BIG challenge to me.
Came back had my stove on medium then started with my cooking.
A splash of olive oil (enough for your individual needs…not too much just enough) allow it to be warm
Throw your onions, season them.
Garlic le Ginger.
Throw in your peppers season them too.
Before you dip your bones in the pot throw in your diced ginger with garlic allow to sauté then throw your bones. Lmao
Leave your pot for some-time for flavours to infuse, stir and stir until your bones are brownish then ufake amazambane wakho with herbs and or spices of your choice…. I know I am boring when it comes to this department because I use almost the same things depending on what and how I want my food to be. (pink salt, rosemary, lemon pepper, barbecue spice, beef stock cubes, chicken spice, curry powder, black pepper, dry thyme, and parsley)
Xa ubona yonke into yakho iyabhadla embizeni then put your dough balls for about half an hour…your stove heat is still on medium, tidy up your house a bit of go back to bed.
Viola!!! This is what you get in the end.
